The Dream

Running down the beach barefoot; wearing naught but a thin cotton shirt dress with your boyfriend's jumper thrown on top, hair knotting in the wind behind you. Cabbages & Roses SS14 look-book evokes dreams of cottages by the sea in Devon: potting vegetables in the garden, licking clotted cream off your fingers from copious amounts of scones, closing your eyes and welcoming the salty smell of sea air. This is the England that those overseas dream of. The England of secret gardens and ruined castles and Enid Blyton books. An Aga in the kitchen, a claw-foot bath in the bathroom, an open fire crackling in the sitting room. Tomato plants entwined inside an enchanting greenhouse, chickens clucking around an overgrown garden and wisteria creeping up the old stone walls. Days are spent climbing cliffs, making daisy chains in fields and dipping toes into the icy sea.The Dream.
