Style Debate: Mini Midi, Maxi?

Do you favour a shorter length? Are floor-sweeping skirts more your style? Or are you somewhere in between  - a stylish medium of mid-calf length?

In previous seasons, it has been quite clear which length of skirt to wear to stay on trend. There have been numerous summers when maxi lengths were en vogue, countless winters where above-the-knee was the only acceptable length and in recent seasons, the midi skirt has become a contender in its own right.

This summer, any length goes. It's more about your personal style and how you wear it than what the catwalks tell you.

So which are you?

Personally, I'm a bit of each. I love a simple a-line mini worn with a basic shirt and ankle boots. An off-beat slightly awkward midi length looks super-stylish teamed with a cropped T-shirt and heels. Or a flowing maxi skirt is ideal for summer worn with flat sandals and loose layers.

Be inspired by some of my favourite bloggers for styling tips on how to work each length:

Mini: it's all about proportions and balance - if your skirt is short, keep your top half concealed with longer sleeves. Bright colours and fun accessories distract from a minuscule length and transform overtly sexily into overtly stylish.

Midi: heels are essential. A mid-length printed dress worn with stilettos gives a timeless vintage feel - or  try pairing light-weight separates with chunky shoes and bold accessories for a thoroughly modern take on the length.

Maxi: keep this look contemporary by pairing a floor-sweeping length with boots and tousled hair. If you opt for a prettier floral design, a slicked back ponytail adds fashion finesse. Alternatively, a sheer maxi skirt or dress worn with a floral hair garland makes for perfect festival style.
