Interiors // It's in the Detail

My home as a whole isn't Pinterest-worthy just yet, but there are several new purchases and little corners that I'd like to share.

INTERIORS // THE BEDROOM OF MY DREAMS

Recently, I've been waking up in the morning and carefully considering our bedroom. The colours are all wrong. The white walls seem harsh and cold, the sun-bleached turquoise curtains add no warmth to the room. I'm envisioning a snug and cosy room, but am wary about how I'll feel once the summer comes back around. As of always, I'm looking to the internet for inspiration.

INTERIORS / INTRO

I'm finding myself inspired by interiors and coveting an abundance of plants, textured throws and rustic wooden stools.

INTERIORS // INSPIRED

I'm currently feeling the urge to paint walls, varnish floors, upcycle vintage furniture and spend all my well earned cash on crockery, wicker baskets and patterned blankets. Is this what it means to get old? I rinsed last month's pay check on plant pots, herbs and wood chip for the garden; now I'm itching to redecorate the interior of our home.

WHITE AND GREY

The start of a new year always gets me thinking about interiors and the huge list of things that I would like to do to our house. I stumbled across this beautiful bedroom makeover on Avenue Lifestyle, and now I can't stop thinking about a fresh white and grey bedroom. I usually love cosy clutter, rustic furniture and bohemian rugs and throws - but such a clean space would be so relaxing to sleep in.

Freunde von Freunden

If, like me, you love a sneaky glimpse into other people's homes, then Freunde von Freunden is for you. Literally translating as 'Friends of Friends', the magazine-style site showcases interesting creative types within their own homes or working environments. Expect lots of wooden floors, house plants and endearing knick-knacks.

INSPIRED BY: PARI DUST

I love coming across something so completely different and unique in the vast, sheep-like world of fashion blogging. There's so many sites out there that are near impossible to distinguish from each other. That's why I was so overjoyed when I discovered the work of Pari Dust. Fusing exquisite works of art (seriously, I need to visit New York immediately if this is what the art scene is like!) with complementary clothing and make-up, Pari's creations are multi-dimensional. You can look at them from various angles - does the art makes spectacular backdrops for her fashion shoots; or does she, the model, simply provide the perfect accompaniment for the pieces she stands beside?

SIMPLICITY

I'm leaning more and more towards a Scandinavian clean and minimal aesthetic - in my appearance and in my surroundings. It may be the result of too much instagram stalking but I'm craving a big bucket of white paint, parquet flooring and an abundance of indoor plants. I can't get enough of Kinfolk and Cereal magazines. I'm plotting a wardrobe overhaul that would put all my prints in hibernation until next spring. Frayed blue jeans, boater hats, oversized slouchy jumpers and simple T-shirts are all on my radar. As are In Bed 's creased cotton sheets in various shades of blue, white and grey. And don't forget Birkenstock sandals - summer's not over yet. I want to throw away all of my toiletries and invest in Aesop's entire collection. Half the items on my wishlist hail from Whistles - Acne, Commes des Garcons Commes des Garcons and a Joshu Vela canvas tote also rank high. In this picturesque world of simplicity, I'm drinking green smoothies for breakfast, cooking everything in the Hemsley and Hemlsey cookbook and waking myself up before work with an outdoor yoga class. One can dream.

INSIDE/OUTSIDE

I've had one of those lazy afternoons where you end up getting lost in the labyrinth that is Pinterest. I have had interiors (and exteriors) on the brain today, building up a little list of what I want my future home to look like. True, some of these ideas could be applied to our current abode but I'm thinking about stained glass windows, large hallways and oversized square-paned windows that let in natural light and open up to cherry blossom and magnolia trees in the yard.

Intricately painted staircases, window seats, tiled floors, wood burning stoves, vividly coloured painted walls, and a kitchen full of plants; building up my online scrapbook that will one day be reality.

Dream House

Kimberley Gordon's Silver Lake pad takes the words 'Dream House' to a whole new level.

The interior reflects the Wildfox lovely's personality - full of pastel hues and ethereal details.

Get the look of Kim's LA abode with white walls, dark wooden floor-boards, colourful glass bottles, pastel sheets, pink tiles and heaps of flowers.

Home Sweet Home

Interior design is playing on my mind at the moment. I haven't really got the funds but I would love to attack my house with a chisel, paintbrush, furniture upheaval and complete re-design.

I'm feeling inspired by fresh white walls, glossy wooden floors, an excessive amount of plants and flashes of vibrant colour. My friend Kasia is in the middle of decorating  her first home and has enlightened me to Mexican tile - I'm envisioning a few patterned tiles dotted amongst plain for a bathroom wall or grouping together for a kitchen splash-back.

The Pastal House

I have fallen in love with Elsa Billgren's pastal hued interiors. From her duck egg blue kitchen, to her candyfloss pink piano, to the extensive collection of beautiful vintage gowns hanging from every wall - Elsa's home is perfection.
