Berlin Photo Diary - Day One

Looking over my holiday photographs is already making me sad that I am back in grim, rainy Manchester.

Day one in Berlin was spent cycling around, sweating in the humidity. We cycled south, to the abandoned airport, Templehof. We rode our bikes down the old runways and amongst the strange sculptures and allotments, stopping at a petting zoo at the nearby park en route. We then heading for Treptower park (getting suitably lost on the way), where we relaxed by the water. The evening was spent making friends with the rabbits who lived in our courtyard, drinking wine and watching Germany win against Greece with the whole of Simon Dace Strasse cheering.

Ich bin eine Berliner

I'm back from my holidays with approximately 700 photographs to share! Whilst I begin to sort though and edit them all, here are a few shots from the first night in Berlin at our favourite Thai, Papaya in Friedrichshain.

Top two shots taken by myself, bottom two by my boyfriend.

Be Right Back ....

Sorry I've been a bit quiet this week - I fly to Germany in the morning and have been busy preparing. We are spending four days in Berlin and 4 days in Hamburg. Normal blogging will resume (probably with photographs from our trip) in just over a week.

Tschus!

All photos are from my trip to Berlin last summer.

Resort 2013 Part 4

Carven
I am yet to be disappointed by Carven. The simple formula of Gaelic charm, peter-pan collars and vibrant colour always delivers. For Resort, a bold colour scheme of cobalt blue, coral and beige was mixed through with intricately printed pieces. The flowing seafoam green maxi dress was unusual amongst a sea of above-knee skirts but was a welcome addition - I would live in this dress all summer!
Valentino
This Valentino collection boasts several dresses that are sure to be walking down the aisle. The floor length lace and floral embellished gowns would make excellent alternative wedding dresses. And for the guests? A bright pink organza dress with contrast white collar and cuffs or a textured puff-skirted number, embroidered in a bold mix of fuchsia pink, baby blue and lime green. To round it all off, the full-skirted mini trench is the most perfect summer coat I can imagine.

Lonely Dot: Paradise Lost

I couldn't help but share another editorial from Lonely Dot. I love the carefree spirit and beautiful vintage garments in this shoot, modelled by Janell herself. Photos by Olivia Malone.

Resort 2013 Part Trois

I'm still sticking to fun colours and fun prints for this edition of my Resort 2013 round-up. This season of shows has excited me far more than recent seasons. Everything just seems so wearable and there's a lot of ideas that would be pretty easy to imitate on a high street/vintage budget.

Stella McCartney
This is actually one of my favourite Stella collections to date. I might be completely biased because the pale blue pleated dress looks like it was made for me (I now need to spend the summer searching for a vintage alternative). Aside from the Perfect Dress -  I love the slouchy sweaters paired with printed pencil skirts, the bold decoupage prints, the matching shorts and boxy tee combos. The colour scheme of pale blue, crisp white, baby yellow, pale pink and cold coral is one that jumps out of the box and demands attention.
Tory Burch
The best part of the Tory Burch Resort collection has to be the prints. So simple  - repetitive geometric shapes - yet so effective. There were bold shots of deep purple shot through the collection, yet it was the simple spectrum of pale and navy blues mixed with cream that really caught my eye. The simple shapes of the cropped trousers, boxy dresses and striped tees are perfect for holiday dressing.

LOVE DesignLoveFest

There are 100,000s of personal style blogs nowadays. The ones that really stand out to me, that inspire me and delight me are those that are colourful, fun and UNIQUE. DesignLoveFest is all of the above. Bri Emery is an LA-based all round creative with her hands in many pies (graphic designer/blogger/art director etc) who has the most refreshing personal style I have seen in a long time. DesignLoveFest is not primarily a style blog. Bri describes the blog as 'where type and images totally make out' - it's basically a visual smorgasboard of creative content, colourful photos, witty writing and awesome use of type incorporated into the images. Bri herself is an absolute babe - messy long blonde hair and awesome thick 'bangs' and an adorable smile. She wears a delectable mix of vibrant hues, fun prints and vintage pieces, with a natural creative flair of putting outfits together.
