My favourite Paris collection by far was Valentino. A wonderful hybrid of folk, far-off cultures and the opulence of the opera, designs focused on beautiful intricate prints and a rich colour palette. Little A-line T-shirt dresses, boxy jackets, fringed cardigans and flowing gowns were adorned with statement embroidery, beading and embellishments, creating exquisite works of art. These clothes were so delicately crafted, they looked as though they should be on display in a museum, filed as The Traditional Costumes of the Tribe Folk. Almost too beautiful to wear but not quite; the ornate mini dresses could be dressed down by a leather jacket and chunky ankle boots whilst the little jackets would dress up a classic pair of skinny jeans and a simple tee. Here's hoping someone on the high street produces a decent imitation.
LOve it!
