I love to escape the city and get away to the countryside. My boyfriend's parents have a cottage in Kirkby Lonsdale, perfectly situated on the border of Cumbria, Yorkshire and Lancashire. At night, everything is perfectly silent and the skies are clear enough to see the stars. Something of a novelty when you are used to the Manchester suburbs.
We spend this weekend walking through the picturesque Yorkshire Dales, admiring views, scaling hills to find fairy glens under viaducts, drinking cider and real ales in remote pubs, exploring waterfalls and carving our initials into new pathways..
